Fat Transfer and Microliposuction

Fat Transfer

Your own fat can be removed painlessly from one part of your body using local anesthesia and injected into other areas. Fat can be used for a mini-facelift with very little down time. Enough fat is usually removed for several treatments which can be given at 1-2 month intervals. The results from these treatments can last from months to years. The length of time the fat lasts is dependent on the individual person. If the fat doesn't last another filling substance can be substituted. Generally fat lasts forever in the cheek hollows and over the cheek bones which are areas of non-movement.

Areas that can be treated include sunken cheeks, hollows under the eyes, nasolabial folds, marionette (puppet) lines below lips, between the eyes, aging hands, some acne scars, defects after trauma or surgery and some congenital defects. Cheekbones can be made more prominent and the chin area can be enhanced. It's easy to do a fat transfer to make the hands look less bony and vascular. A plumper, smoother look makes your hands appear much younger.

If undergoing the liposuction procedure, some of the removed fat can be reinjected during surgery and some frozen for future use.

Microliposuction

The use of extremely tiny cannulas to remove fat from the face including the chin, nasolabial folds, cheeks, and jowls is called microliposuction. Often the fat is transferred to other areas of the face that need it and/or liposuction of the neck. Microlopsuction can also repair post-operative liposuction defects.

Microliposuction, to get rid of jowls or fat around the mouth with fat transfer provides great overall facial contouring.

Fat transfer can also be done at the same time as microliposuction of the neck and jowls, giving an overall rejuvenation.

Finally we have a use for that excess fat!
