ZYDERM
In 1981, ZYDERM became the first FDA-approved dermal filler. It was approved for the correction of contour deformities of the dermis in non-weight bearing areas, ZYDERM is a highly purified bovine-derived collagen (a naturally occurring protein) acquired from the hides of steers from within a closed herd.
Dispersed in a phosphate buffered saline solution containing the anesthetic lidocaine, ZYDERM is used for lip augmentation purposes, in certain rhinoplasty procedures, as well as to treat:
- Frown lines (glabellar lines)
- Crow's feet (periorbital lines)
- Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
- Acne scars
Available in two concentrations, ZYDERM 1 is injected into thin-skinned areas for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles and superficial scars, whereas ZYDERM 2 is utilized in the treatment of moderate scars, lines and wrinkles.
ZYPLAST
Approved by the FDA in 1985 for the correction of contour deformities of the dermis in non-weight bearing areas, ZYPLAST is a phosphate buffered saline solution that, like ZYDERM, contains a highly purified bovine-derived collagen and lidocaine (anesthetic). Unlike ZYDERM, though, the collagen found in ZYPLAST is cross-linked with glutaraldehyde (a liquid often used as a disinfectant or preservative) to strengthen collagen fibers and supplement your skin's natural collagen.
Collagen is a naturally occurring protein. The collagen in ZYPLAST is obtained from the hides of steers from within a closed herd. Whereas ZYDERM is used to treat superficial to moderate lines, wrinkles and scars, ZYPLAST is used to treat more pronounced signs of aging on the face. It can be used for lip enhancement, in some rhinoplasty procedures, as well as in the treatment of:
- Frown lines (glabellar lines)
- Crow's feet (periorbital lines)
- Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
- Acne scars
ZYDERM and ZYPLAST Treatments
ZYDERM and ZYPLAST treatments consist of quick, simple injections in the areas you'd like to enhance. The entire procedure takes just about 30 minutes. Results are seen immediately, and there's little or no downtime.
