LAVIV™ (azficel-T) is an autologous cellular product indicated for improvement of the appearance of moderate to severe nasolabial fold wrinkles in adults. LAVIV™ is a revolutionary new treatment that involves culturing patients’ own fibroblasts (skin cells) to restore fullness and collagen. This personalized cell therapy is the first FDA-approved procedure of its kind. Cells are sample from a patient’s own skin, then cultured in an off-site laboratory to expand the number of collagen producing cells, which are eventually injected into the patient. This means that collagen enhancement can occur without introducing a foreign substance into the body. Because LAVIV injections are made from a patient’s own tissue, the body does not attempt to break down the filler material.
