The fractional StarLux laser emits small beams of light onto pinpoint areas of the skin leaving the surrounding skin and tissue unaffected. These "microbeams" penetrate the lower layers of the skin and stimulate collagen production. The laser's tip chills the outer skin to prevent the skin from becoming overheated and to enhance patient comfort. StarLux treatments typically take less than an hour, then you're back to your daily routine.
Immediately after a treatment, the surface of the skin and surrounding tissues are not harmed. There are no open wounds or bruising to heal, although the skin may look pink temporarily. Improvements will gradually appear over time as new collagen is generated and the healing process continues.
