Power Assisted Liposuction
Many women and men visit Dr. Rhoda Narins for liposuction from Westchester County, Manhattan, other parts of New York City, and even across the globe. Power assisted tumescent liposuction uses a vibrating cannula to break up the fats cells, allowing them to be easily suctioned out of the body.
Advantages of Tumescent Liposuction for Westchester County & New York City Residents
Dr. Narins has years of specialized training and experience performing liposuction surgery to quickly and effectively sculpt the body. She performs all liposuction procedures using tumescent liposuction with local anesthesia, which provides many advantages including:
- Increased efficiency for faster procedure times
- Gentler on the body
- Minimized pain and bruising
- Reduced anesthesia
- Little down time
Power assisted liposuction (PAL) is an adjunct to traditional tumescent liposuction/liposculpture that Dr. Narins might suggest if she thinks it could enhance the procedure further. Dr. Narins will discuss the various liposuction options with you, including ultrasonic liposuction, at your consultation and recommend a treatment plan that best meets your needs.
How It Works
Tumescent liposuction begins with the gentle injection of anesthetic solution into the treatment areas. This solution controls pain, minimizes bleeding, and engorges the area to make the fat extraction process easier. For power assisted liposuction, a vibrating cannula is inserted under the skin. The combination of vibration and fluid loosens the fat cells, allowing them to be quickly and easily suctioned out of the body.
Treatment from a Liposuction Pioneer
Dr. Narins is widely regarded as a liposuction pioneer. She is one of the first doctors who brought liposuction to the United States in the early 1980s, and she personally trained with the doctors who invented this procedure. She remains current in the latest techniques and technologies by teaching liposuction to other dermatologic and cosmetic surgeons, lecturing on the topic across the US and abroad, and publishing books and articles on liposuction. She is a member of the Tumescent Liposuction Council and the Liposuction Task Force for the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatologic Surgery who wrote the guidelines for liposuction.
